ToFarm Film Festival tribute sa mga magsasakang Pinoy

ANIM na pelikula ang maglalaban-laban sa kauna-unahang ToFarm Film Festival na magsisimula sa July 13 hanggang 19. Magsisilbing tribute ito ng Philippines movie industry sa lahat ng mga magsasakang Pinoy.

Present sa ginanap na presscon ng ToFarm Festival (The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines) ang mga direktor at artista na kasali sa anim na pelikulang kalahok, pati na rin ang festival director na si Maryo J. Delos Reyes.

“Ang mga magsasaka at ang kanilang kapalaran ay kasalukuyang nasa center stage. Napapanahon na para tulungan sila ng ating industriya,” sabi ni direk Maryo. Ang tema ng unang ToFarm filmfest ay “The Plight of the Farmer: His Trials and Triumphs”.

Dagdag ng award-winning director, “Tayo bilang mga cineastes ay maaaring makatulong sa pagpapalaganap sa kung ano talaga ang nangyayari sa mga magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng mga pelikulang kalahok sa ToFarm. Kaya sana’y suportahan ng mga Filipino ang lahat ng entries.”

Narito ang anim na masusuwerteng pelikula na pumasok sa Magic 6 ng filmfest: “Free Range” (modern drama) ni Dennis Marasigan starring Jackie Rice, Paolo O’Hara, Mads Nicolas, Michael de Mesa, Jojit Lorenzo at Ana Feleo.
“Kakampi” (magic realism) ni Victor Acedillo Jr. na pinagbibidahan nina Neil Ryan Sese, Felix Roco, Gloria Sevilla, Suzette Ranillo, Kate Brios at Perry Dizon.

“Paglipay” (love story) by Zig Dulay starring Garry Cabalic, Anna Luna, Joan dela Cruz, Manel Sevidal, Natasha Cabrera at Norman King;  “Pauwi Na” (comedy road movie) directed by Paolo Villaluna kung saan bibida sina Bembol Roco, Cherry Pie Picache, Meryll Soriano, Boots Anson Roa at Tessie Tomas.

Nandiyan din ang “Pilapil” (suspense action) by Jose Johny Nadela, starring James Blanco, Pancho Magno, Diva Montelaba, David Remo at Rez Cortez; at ang “Pitong Kabang Palay” (drama) directed by Maricel Cariaga na pagbibidahan nina Arnold Reyes, Sue Prado, Micko Laurente at Precious Miel Espinosa.

Ang mananalong Best ToFarm Film 2016 ay magwawagi ng P500,000 at trophy, ang second placer ay tatanggap ng P400,000 and trophy, at ang third placer ay bibigyan ng P300,000 plus trophy. Ang recipient naman Special Jury Award ay bibigyan ng P100,000.

Magbibigay din sa awarding ceremony (July 19) ng Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Child Performer, Best Screenplay, Best Musical Score, Best Production Design, Best Editing at Best Cinematography.

Mapapanood ang mga ToFarm filmfest entries sa piling sinehan sa SM Megamall at SM North EDSA. Ang filmfest na ito ay brainchild ni Dr. Milagros Ong-How, ang Executive Vice-President ng Universal Harvester, Inc..
