PUMANAW na ang dating gubernador ng Iloilo na si Niel D. Tupas Sr. Kinumpirma ito ng kanyang anak na si House committee on justice at Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas Sr., sa kanyang Facebook account. Si Tupas ay pumanaw kahapon ng 1:35 ng umaga. “He is now at peace with God. Thank you for all your love, prayers, and support. We love you, tatay. You will always live in our hearts,” ani Tupas. Binawian ng buhay ang dating gubernador habang naka-confine sa Philippine Heart Center sa Quezon City. Halos isang buwan na umano itong nasa ospital. Siya ay nagsilbi ng tatlong termino bilang gubernador ng lalawigan mula noong 2001. Siya ay naging mayor, assemblyman at kongresista.
