4 na nakipaglibing patay matapos maaksidente sa Compostela

PATAY ang apat na katao matapos bumangga ang isang pampasaherong jeepney na puno ng mga nakipaglibing matapos bumangga sa concrete center island sa kahabaan ng Tagum-Mati highway sa Maco, Compostela Valley noong Biyernes ng gabi, ayon sa pulisya at lokal na mga opisyal.

Walong iba pa ang sugatan matapos ang aksidente ganap na alas-6:10 ng gabi sa Purok Mauswagon sa Barangay Poblacion, ayon kay Senior Supt. Albert Ignatius Ferro, Compostela Valley police chief.

Pawang mga residente ang mga biktima ng Barangay Maniki sa Kapalong, Davao del Norte at pauwi na sana mula sa beach resort matapos makipaglibing, ayon kay Kapalong Mayor Edgardo Timbol.

Base sa inisyal na imbestigasyon, binabagtas ng jeepney (LVH-470) na minamaneho ni Diego Raveno ang national highway nang bumangga ito sa center island, sabi ni Ferro.

Tatlo sa mga namatay ay nakilala na sina Elizabeth at Ronald Orallo, at Perfecto Baquino.

“We heard a loud thud and saw the Lawin-type jeep hit against the center island and topple on its right side,” sabi ni Roy Macul, isa sa mga nakasaksi.

Sinabi ni Chief Insp. Pablito Odias, Maco police station, na galing ang double-tire type jeepney mula sa Mabini, Compostela Valley na may 38 pasahero na nakasakay.

Namatay ang tatlo sa mga biktima habang ginagamot sa Davao Regional Medical Hospital (DRMC), dagdag ni Odias.

Namatay ang isa pang biktima noong Martes ng umaga, ayon kay Timbol.

“Most of the victims had just attended the funeral of the driver’s wife, who was the principal of our elementary school, a day earlier, and decided to go to the beach as a sort of easing their grief,” sabi ni Timbol. “Maybe he’s fatigued, dagdag ni Timbol.

Aniya, kabilang ang driver sa mga ginagamot sa DRMC.
