Lopez-Perez nauwi ang ITF Men’s Futures 2 singles title

HINDI bumigay si Enrique Lopez-Perez ng Spain sa hamong ibinigay ni Kento Takeuchi ng Japan para kunin ang 7-6 (4), 6-4 panalo at iuwi ang singles title sa pagtatapos kahapon ng 34th Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open-Cebuana Lhuillier ITF Men’s Futures 2 sa PCA clay courts sa Paco, Maynila.

Tumagal ang laban ng isang oras at 51 minuto at nagtagal ang tagisan sa first set na nakuha ng top seed na si Lopez-Perez para magkaroon ng momentum tungo sa panalo sa second set.

Ang nangyari ay pambawi ni Lopez-Perez sa third seed na si Takeuchi na una siyang tinalo sa semifinals sa Futures 1 noong nakaraang linggo.

Halagang $2,160 ang premyong napanalunan ni Lopez-Perez para bigyan ang sarili ng magandang alaala sa pagbisita sa Pilipinas.

“I had a shoulder injury and was out for seven months and I really wanted to find myself back here,” wika ni Lopez-Perez.

Si Francis Casey Alcantara ang local netter na may pinakamataas na puwesto na tinapos sa singles nang umabot siya sa quarterfinals bago namahinga kay Lopez-Perez, 6-3, 6-3.

Hindi naman nawalan ng kinang ang hosting ng bansa at ng paglalaro ni Alcantara dahil siya at si Johnny Arcilla ay umukit ng 6-2, 6-2 panalo kina Katsuki Nagao at Hiromasa Oku ng Japan para sa doubles title sa palarong suportado ng Cebuana Lhuillier, Puma, Dunlop, The Philippine Star, Head, Babolat, Compass/IMOSTI at Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.
