PITONG buwan matapos na kanyang inanunsiyo ang kanyang pagreretiro sa basketball ay nahaharap ang point guard na si Jimmy Alapag sa posibilidad na muling maglaro para sa Gilas Pilipinas.
Ito ay dahil sa kinakapos ang pambansang koponan sa manlalarong puwede at gustong maglaro para sa nalalapit na Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship na gaganapin sa Changsha, China.
Lumahok ang 37-anyos na point sa unang ensayo ng Gilas Pilipinas training pool noong Lunes sa Meralco gym at nagpahayag ang dating team captain ng Philippine team ng kahandaan na maglarong muli sa koponan.
“I’ve kept myself in shape. Basketball has been a big part of my life for so long even helping manage Talk ’N Text and helping the Sinag team the past two months, I’ve kept myself in shape and you know it just so happened another opportunity came up,” sabi ni Alapag na nagsilbi bilang manager ng Talk ‘N Text sa PBA at assistant coach ng Gilas cadets (Sinag) na nanalo ng gintong medalya sa 2015 Southeast Asian Games sa Singapore.
“If another call of duty serves itself then I’ll be ready. Having this (Gilas) jersey has always had special meaning.’’
