Corteza, Kiamco, Orcollo laglag sa China Open

HINDI pinalad sina Lee Van Corteza, Warren Kiamco at Dennis Orcollo sa paglahok sa China Open men’s division nang hindi sila umabot sa finals ng kompetisyon na ginawa sa Shanghai, China kamakailan.

Si Corteza ang lumabas na may pinakamagandang tinapos sa apat na Filipino na pumasok sa knockout round nang umabot siya sa quarterfinals.

Tinalo ni Corteza ang mga manlalaro ng Chinese Taipei na sina Chang Jung-lin, 11-7, at Hsu Kai-lun, 11-7, bago nakasukatan si Albin Ouschan ng Austria na nagpatalsik sa Filipino cue artist sa 11-6 iskor.

Si Kiamco at Orcollo ay parehong umabot lamang sa Last 16 at ang una ay nanalo kay Aloysius Yapp ng Singapore, 11-9, bago nasibak kay John Morra ng Canada, 9-11, habang ang Southeast Asian Games gold medal winner na si Orcollo ay nanalo sa kababayang si Jeff Ignacio, 11-4, bago namahinga kay Chu Bing Jie ng China, 4-11.

Nakakuha naman si Corteza ng $6,000 premyo habang sina Kiamco at Orcollo ay may tig-$3,000 gantimpala. Si Ignacio ay may pakonsuwelong $1,800 premyo.

Ang naglaban sa titulo ay sina Ouschan at Morra at nanalo ang una sa huli, 11-8, para kunin ang $40,000 gantimpala.
