TABLA sa 1-all ang best-of-seven finals series ng PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup sa pagitan ng San Mig Coffee at Rain or Shine. Pero hindi nagmamadaling tapusin ng maaga ang serye sina SanMig coach Tim Cone at Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
Bagkus ay pinaghahandaan ng dalawang koponan ang mahaba at pukpukang serye. “I just feel that we are evolving into a big-game-team,” sabi ni Cone. “They are not afraid of playing any series.
We feel that the closer it gets down to the end, the better chance we have because our guys are used to playing big games.” Matapos na manaig ang Rain or Shine sa Game One, 83-80, ay bumawi ang SanMig sa Game Two, 80-70.
Hindi naman nababahala si Guiao sa puntong ito. “I am not really worried,” sabi ni Guiao na hanap ang kauna-unahan niyang all-Filipino crown. “The longer this series takes, the better it is for us.”
Noong isang taon ay pumasok din sa Philippine Cup finals ang Rain or Shine ngunit winalis sila ng Talk ‘N Text. Tinalo naman ng Coffee Mixers ang crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel sa buong pitong laro sa semifinals para makausad sa championship round. Ang Game Three ay itinakda bukas.
