Baka Bet Mo: Tatay ni Angel tinamaan din ng COVID-19: It’s been a week of feeling helpless…

“He measured everything—his steps, his meals, his expenses. His life was a careful balance of discipline and faith, an unwavering commitment to principles I sometimes struggled to understand.

“He was a man of rules, of strict lines drawn between right and wrong, lines I often questioned. We argued—about faith, about money, about choices.

“He believed in thrift, in saving every peso, in never indulging in what wasn’t necessary. I used to roll my eyes when he would question me over an additional allowance, never realizing it was his way of teaching, of preparing me for a world that takes more than it gives.

“He fought for 98 years—a long, disciplined, honorable life. He kept his body strong, his convictions stronger. There was fire in his voice giving certainty to his words.

“I regret not visiting him more, especially when life became difficult for him. I should have been there, should have listened more, should have told him that despite our differences, I admired him. And yet, there were times I wondered—was he ever proud of me? How did I measure up to him?

“I will never know now. But I want to believe that in his own way, he loved me. That behind his firm words and calculated steps, there was a father who wanted only the best for his child.

“Thank you, Daddy. For your advice, your discipline, your faith—even the parts I struggled with. Thank you for showing me what it means to stand by what you believe in, no matter how the world sways.

“You lived by principles I didn’t always understand, and maybe I spent too much time trying to change your mind instead of appreciating the man you were.

“But I see it now.

“You fought a good fight—not just against time, but against the temptations of ease and indulgence. You stayed true to yourself, to your God, to the lessons you wanted us to learn. You stood firm, even when I pushed back.

“I am sorry for the moments I let slip away. For the visits I postponed, the words I kept to myself. I hope you knew, in the quiet spaces between our arguments and our differences, that I loved you.

“I am sorry for the words I never said, the love I could have shown more.

“I miss you. More than I have words for.

“And if you ever wondered, as I did—yes, Daddy, I was proud of you, too.

“Daddy, I never told you enough, but I watched you. I watched how you measured your steps, how you carried yourself with quiet discipline. How you counted each peso, each moment, each sacrifice—always careful, always certain.

“You measured everything in life—but your love is immeasurable. And mine for you will never fade,” ang buong mensahe ni Ella sa namayapang ama.
