780 bangkay pa, nakuha

TACLOBAN City, Leyte — Sa ika-walong araw, bumuhos pa ang bilang ng mga bangkay na natagpuan dito. Ayon sa ulat ng Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) kahapon kay Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, co-chair ng National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRMC), may 780 pang bangkay ang nakuha.

Walumpu’t tatlong bangkay ang “prinoseso” at ang iba’y dinala agad sa mass burial sa Barangay Basper, ani BFP regional director Pablito Cordeta (Eastern Visayas).

Apatnapu’t walo lamang ang kinilala. “780 of the bodies retrieved were done by Task Force Cadaver; 48 of which were identified and 732 were unidentified,” ani Cordeta.

Ang mga bangkay ay natagpuan sa mga barangay ng San Jose, Fatima at Pampango, na narating pa lamang ng clearing team.
Ang “Task Force Cadaver,” na pinamumunuan ni Cordeta, ay nakakuha na ng 1,199 bangkay at 1,095 sa mga ito ay hindi pa nakikilala.  May 147 lang ang nakilala.

Ang mga bangkay na di nakilala ai kinuhanan ng retrato at DNA samples para makatulong sa identification process na uumpisahan pagkalipas ng ilang araw. Ang death toll ay naitala kahapon ng hapon sa 3,725.

Ang bilang ng sugatan ay 17,821 at ang nawawala ay 1,567, ayon sa Task Force Yolanda. Ang BFP ay may 234 responders na nagmula sa limang rehiyon at sa national headquarters.

Katuwang ng BFP sa paghahanap ng mga bangkay ang National Police, Navy, National Bureau of Investigation, public works at Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
