SC may bagong chief communications officer, 1st female spokesperson

MAY itinalaga nang bagong chief communications officer ang Supreme Court (SC).

Siya’y walang iba kundi ang multi-platform journalist at abogado na si Michael “Mike” Navallo.

Pamumunuan ni Navallo ang Supreme Court Communications Office simula August 1.

Samantala, ang bagong tagapagsalita ay si Camille Ting, ang kauna-unahang babae na napili sa nasabing posisyon, na agad namang manunungkulan at pangungunahan ang Supreme Court Office of the Spokesperson.

Bago ang appointment, si Navallo ay kilalang veteran journalist ng ABS-CBN sa nakalipas na walong taon.

Ang mga kino-cover niyang istorya ay may kaugnayan sa human rights at hustisya.

Noong 2017, siya ay napiling fellow ng Reham al-Farra ng United Nations at naging parte ng team na nagwagi sa 2017 Society of Publishers sa Asia Award for Human Rights Reporting.

Apat na beses din siyang naging fellow ng Jaime V. Ongpin Journalism Seminar na inorganisa ng Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR).

Noong 2023, nabigyan siya ng “Award of Distinction” by the CMFR.

Taong 2005 nang grumaduate ang batikang journalist sa University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication bilang isang magna cum laude.

Nakuha naman niya ang Juris Doctor degree sa UP College of Law noong 2009.

Sa kasalukuyan, siya ay isang Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow sa International Forum for Democratic Studies sa ilalim ng National Endowment for Democracy sa Washington, DC.

Samantala, si Ting naman ay naging court insider sa loob ng mahigit isang dekada.

Nang maka-graduate naman siya sa law school, agad siyang sumabak bilang isang news analyst ng Supreme Court para sa Public Information Office noong 2012.

Nang maipasa niya ang 2012 Bar Examinations, si Ting ay naging executive assistant ng Office of the Court Administrator, at kasunod niyan ay naging Judicial Staff Head of Supreme Court Associate Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez noong 2021.

Maliban pa sa mga nabanggit, nagsilbi din siyang secretariat para sa ilang komite, kabilang na ang Committee on the Revision of the Rules of Court, ang Sub-Committees ng Revision of the 1997 Rules of Civil Procedure, Revision of the Rules of Procedure for Intellectual Property Rights Cases, at Revision of the Rules for Criminal Procedure, Special Committee ng Virtual Hearings and Electronic Testimony, pati na rin ang Ad Hoc Committee para sa Formulation of the Special Rules of Procedure on Anti-Terrorism Case.

Natapos niya ang Bachelor of Arts degree, major in Philosophy, at Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree, major in Legal Management sa De La Salle University Manila noong 2005.

Nakuha ni Ting ang Juris Doctor degree with Second Honors mula sa Ateneo de Manila University School of Law noong 2012, at Masters’ degree in Philosophical Research sa De La Salle University Manila noong 2007.

Sa kasalukuyan, siya ay candidate ng Master of Laws sa London School of Economics and Political Science sa England at inaantay nalang niya ang kanyang graduation.
