DepEd ibabalik ang dating ‘school calendar’, tuwing Mayo na ang bakasyon

NAGKAROON ng pagbabago sa schedule ang Department of Education (DepEd) kasunod ng mga natatanggap na reklamo mula sa mga guro, estudyante at mga magulang ngayong paparating na ang panahon ng tag-init.
Marami kasi ang nagko-complain sa nararanasang “extreme heat” sa loob ng silid-aralan ng mga pampublikong eskwelahan.
Dahil diyan, inanunsyo ng DepEd na ibinabalik na nila sa lumang “school calendar” ang mga klase na kung saan ang bakasyon ng mga bata ay tuwing summer season.
Inilabas ni Vice President at Education Secretary na si Sara Duterte ang Department Order (DO) No. 3 na nagtatakda ng mga bagong petsa ng mga aktibidad sa paaralan mula Pebrero hanggang katapusan ng susunod na school year.
Ayon sa kautusan ni Duterte, “highest priority” ng DepEd ang kalusugan, kaligtasan at well-being ng mga guro at mag-aaral.

Base sa DO No. 3, itinakda ang pagtatapos ng School Year (SY) 2023-2024 sa darating na May 31, habang ang simula ng SY 2024-2025 ay sa darating na July 29, at ang huling school din nito ay sa May 15, 2025.
Ayon sa tagapagsalita at undersecretary ng DepEd na si Michael Poa, “The number of school days lessened for this school year was not that many, if I’m not mistaken, only around seven to eight days.”
“We cannot just [reduce] the school days because we cannot risk the students to be delayed in their learning competencies and that is why our shift [to the old school calendar] will be gradual,” sey pa niya.
Paliwanag niya, “So, we are on our way there with this gradual shift. As you know, every year, we always look at the adjustments that we can make with the school calendar but based on our projection, we will end SY 2026-2027 during the first few days of April, so we really are on our way there.”
Para naman sa private schools, sinabi ni Poa na may “option” ang mga ito kung ipapareha nila ang school calendar schedule ng nasa public schools.
