Amihan season o malamig na panahon nag-umpisa na –PAGASA
NGAYONG papalapit na ang Christmas season, nag-uumpisa na ring maramdaman ang malamig na simoy na hangin sa ating bansa.
Dahil ‘yan sa tinatawag na “Northeast Monsoon” o Hanging Amihan na idineklara na ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Ayon sa weather bureau, naobserbahan nila sa hilagang Luzon ang “northeasterly solid winds,” gayundin ang unti-unting paglamig ng temperatura ng hangin na nagpapahiwatig na ang Hanging Amihan ay nagsisimula nang umiral.
“In recent days, strong northeasterly winds have prevailed over Northern Luzon due to the strengthening of the high-pressure system over Siberia,” saad ng PAGASA sa isang advisory.

Dagdag pa, “Gradual cooling of the surface air temperature over the northeastern part of Luzon and increasing mean sea level pressure have been observed.”
“These meteorological patterns indicate the onset of the northeast monsoon (amihan) season in the country,” ani pa ng ahensya.
Nabanggit din ng PAGASA na ang Amihan ay inaasahang lalakas sa mga susunod na araw na siyang magdadala ng malamig na simoy ng hangin sa bansa.
“With these developments, the northeasterly wind flow is expected to become more dominant in the country, bringing cold and dry air,” paliwanag ng state bureau.
Patuloy pa, “An episode of wind and cold temperature surges may also be expected in the coming months.”
Sinabi rin ng PAGASA na malaki ang posibilidad na maging below-normal ang pag-ulan at tuyong kondisyon dahil mayroon pa ring nangyayaring El Niño phenomenon na maaaring magdulot ng dry spells at tagtuyot.
“Moreover, with the ongoing El Niño, there is an increased likelihood of below-normal rainfall or drier-than-usual conditions, which could bring negative impacts (such as dry spells and droughts) in some areas of the country that will likely be manifested during the season,” lahad ng ahensya.
