Dayanara Torres ipinagluluksa ang pagpanaw ng unang Miss Universe sa Puerto Rico na si Marisol Malaret: ‘Our greatest treasure is gone’

NAGLULUKSA ngayon si 1993 Miss Universe Dayanara Torres sa pagpanaw ng kauna-unahan nilang Miss Universe titleholder sa Puerto Rico na si Marisol Malaret.
Kinoronahan si Marisol bilang first ever Miss Universe ng Puerto Rico noong 1970, isang taon pagkatapos manalong Miss Universe si Gloria Diaz noong i-represent niya ang Pilipinas taong 1969.
Ayon sa ulat, sumakabilang-buhay si Marisol noong March 19 sa edad na 73.
Sa Instagram account, nag-post si Dayanara noong Lunes, March 20, ng ilang throwback photos ng yumaong beauty queen kalakip ang kanyang mensahe para rito.

“Puerto Rico, today is dressing in mourning. Marisol Malaret, our first Miss Universe, our greatest treasure, is gone.
“Marisol was always ‘My Miss Universe’, whom I admired not only for the glory she gave to all of us Puerto Ricans, but also for the great human being she was.
“Her business career, communicator and her impeccable elegance… Always rules!” ang pahayag ni Dayanara na ilang taon ding nanirahan sa Pilipinas nang magkaroon siya rito ng career sa showbiz.
Pagbibigay-pugay pa niya kay Marisol, “I treasure our moments together, her advice and even her scoldings, because somehow she always felt the desire to take care of me like a mother does to her daughter.
“I always looked up to her, she was always my role model, worthy representative of Puerto Rican women. My reason for dreaming since I was little in wanting to be Miss Universe.

May limang Miss Universe titleholder na ang Puerto Rico – sina Marisol Malaret (1970), Deborah Carthy-Deu (1985), Dayanara Torres (1993), Denise Quiñones (2001), at Zuleyka Rivera (2006).
Samantala, matatandaang sumikat sa Pilipinas si Dayanara nang subukan niyang magtrabaho rito bilang aktres at TV host noong 1994 matapos niyang ipasa ang korona sa kanyang successor na si Sushmita Sen ng India.
