Pagsugpo sa mga pang-aabuso sa paaralan pinaigting, DepEd naglunsad ng ‘helpline’

BUKOD sa kalidad na edukasyon, pinaigting din ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang kaligtasan ng mga estudyante laban sa mga pang-aabuso ng mga guro o paaralan.
Nitong Huwebes, November 24, ay naglunsad ang DepEd ng “Learner Rights and Protection Office (LRPO)” at “Telesafe Contact Center Helpline” upang maaksyunan ang ilang reklamo ng mga bata, gaya ng sexual abuse, verbal abuse at physical abuse.
Ayon pa kay Vice President at Education Secretary na si Sara Duterte, nasa 1,871 kaso ng child abuse ang naitatala na ng DepEd mula taong 2019 hanggang 2020.
Inaasahan daw niya na aakyat pa ang bilang na ito dahil mayroon na silang tanggapan ng mga sumbong.
“Because there’s already an avenue where the learners can report,” sey ni Duterte.
Sinabi pa ni Duterte na kailangang may mga module din na nagtuturo sa mga bata na kilalanin ang iba’t-ibang klase ng karahasan.
Saad ng bise presidente, “In cases of sexual violence, victims would rather suffer in silence, endure the abuse and hope it stops.
“They choose to suffer in silence because of fear of being shamed, fear for their security and of their loved ones, or fear of being blamed by other family members for breaking the family.“
Dagdag pa niya, “And we, the entire country, the entire Department of Education, want to change this.”
Ang mga estudyante na nais magsumbong ng pang-aabuso sa ahensya ay pwedeng magpadala ng email o tumawag.

Kamakailan lang ay naglabas ng bagong kautusan ang DepEd para sa mga teaching at non-teaching personnel.
Ito’y para mapanatili ang pagiging “propesyunalismo” nila.
Partikular sa kautusan ang pagkakaroon ng relasyon sa pagitan ng mga guro at estudyante sa labas ng klase.
Bukod sa bawal mag-usap ang mga guro at estudyante sa labas ng klase ay hindi rin sila pwedeng mag-follow sa social media.
“Avoid relationships, interaction, and communication, including following social media with learners outside of the school setting, except if they are relatives,” lahad sa bagong kautusan ng ahensya.
Ayon kay Duterte, ipinatupad nila ito para maiwasan ang magiging problema sa eskwelahan.
“As a teacher, mayroon talagang line between him or her and the learner. Dapat hindi sila magkaroon ng friendly relations with their learners outside of the learning institution setting dahil nagkakaroon ng bias ‘yung isang tao kapag nagiging kaibigan na niya,” aniya.
Nilabas ang nasabing kautusan kasabay ng imbestigasyon sa ilang guro na sangkot umano sa mga kaso ng sexual harassment laban sa mga mag-aaral.
