Richard nagsalita na kung bakit hindi tatakbong senador si Lucy sa Eleksyon 2022

HULING termino na ni Lucy Torres-Gomez bilang Representative ng 4th District ng Leyte at wala siyang planong kumandidato sa pagkasenador.

Base sa panayam ng asawa niyang si Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez ay kakandidatong mayor si Lucy sa 2022 at siya naman ay tatakbo sa Kongreso. Sa madaling salita ay magpapalit ng puwesto sina Richard at Lucy.

Maraming partido ang nag-imbita kay Congw. Lucy na tumakbo sa senado pero lahat ay hindi niya pinagbigyan. Inakala ng lahat na baka ayaw lang nitong maipit dahil lahat ay kaibigan niya.

“Si Lucy is a very friendly person at hindi siya naiipit kasi ini-invite lang naman siya, so there’s no cause para maipit siya. She’s happy that she is being considered by the different parties which shows na alam ng malalaking partido na she is capable of the legislator job na kailangan sa senate.  

“But in terms of maiipit ba siya, I don’t think na nasa isip niya ‘yun because all of these people are her friends,” paliwanag ni Richard sa panayam ng reporter na si Katrina Domingo sa “TV Patrol”.

Dagdag pa niya, “She had no plans of running for senate. Lucy had no plans of running in senate except that she’s been invited by three major parties to run with them, but Lucy said no.

“There are things that we need to do in Ormoc, we need to fix Ormoc and the district yet inspite of the good survey results,” aniya pa.

At sa plano ni Goma na kumandidato bilang Representative ng 4th District ng Leyte ay tutulong siyang makabalik sa ere ang ABS-CBN dahil malaki ang utang na loob niya sa nasabing TV network.

“If the good Lord bless me with chance of winning in Congress I like to work on helping bringing back ABS-CBN,” namilog ang mga mata at napangiti si Katrina sa sinabing ito ng dating aktor.

“Ah you will vote for the franchise,” nakangiting tanong ng “TV patrol” reporter.

“Yeah, I was a long time employee of ABS-CBN!” sambit ni Richard.

“Yes, Palibhasa Lalaki, I used to watch you before,” natawang sabi naman ni Katrina.

“Yeah, exactly. I worked in ABS for what, 18 years!” pagpapaalala pa ni Goma.

“And your party is okay with this?  Because a lot of your allies in your party frankly speaking did not vote for the franchise,” tanong ulit sa ama ng Ormoc City.

“In Congress kanya-kanyang utak ‘yan!” kaswal na sagot ni Richard.

Sundot na tanong ni Katrina, “And that doesn’t put you in an awkward position in your party?”

“No!  As a representative, you represent yourself and you represent your people.  So, you stand there not as an individual but you stand there for what is good for your people especially this is a national issue, you always go with what is good for the whole nation,” paliwanag ni Goma.

Pinasalamatan naman ni Katrina ang hubby ni Lucy na isa ito sa plano niya kapag pinalad siyang manalo sa kongreso.

“Of course! I am not Richard Gomez now without ABS-CBN,” pagmamalaking sabi ng dating aktor.

Isa pang hirit ni Katrina kung sakaling mapaupo nga si Goma sa kongreso ay hihilingin ba niyang maging parte ng franchise panel.

Ayon sa dating aktor ay depende kung ano ang ibibigay sa kanyang assignment pero sabi nga niya ang franchise committee ay, “Ang franchise committee is one of the hotcake committee so it depends on the President and speaker (of the house).”

At sa huling tanong kay Goma kung bakit hindi senado ang target niya o kaya tapusin na lang ang termino niya bilang mayor ng Ormoc City dahil may isa pa naman siya?

“Siguro that’s one of my edge in public service and being a doctorate degree holder in a Public Administration, I think it will be a big help for me in pursuing legislative job.  

“And I think what is nice also was it has prepared me as mayor on things that I can do well and converse well pagdating sa congress,” paliwanag ni Richard.

Pero hindi naman niya isinasara ang pintuan niya sa Senado, “Not this time because at this point in time, we still have to do a lot of things for Ormoc and for the 4th district of Leyte.”
