Mass Testing sa mga manggagawa ng Subic Bay International Terminal Corp.

Isasasailalim sa mass testing ang lahat ng manggagawa ng Subic Bay International Terminal Corp. (SBITC).

Inatasan ng Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) ang SBITC na isailalim sa testing ang lahat ng empleyado nila matapos na 14 na manggagawa sa naturang terminal ang nagpositibo sa sakit.

Ayon kay SBMA Chairman at Administrator Wilma T. Eisma ang kaso ay nagsimula sa isang manggagawa mula sa Olongapo City na walang travel history saan mang high-risk area.

“It was either mass testing by RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) or shutdown of terminal operations—that’s the only choice left if we wanted to contain the outbreak,” ayon kay Eisma.

Iniutos din ni Eisma ang pagsasagawa ng disinfection sa buong terminal complex.

Ayon kay Eisma nakikipagtulungan naman ang SBITC para maawat na ang paglaganap ng sakitt sa kanilang mga mangaggawa.

“Thankfully, the SBITC management was very cooperative in our strategy to contain the spread, as we knew that closure is a last resort because testing is the key to preventing the spread and that the Red Cross lab at our doorstep makes for fast turnaround for results,” dagdag ni Eisma.

Ani Eisma 238 na mga manggagawa na kinabibilangan ng shift workers, port users, security personnel, canteen staff, at SBMA checkers ang sasailalim sa test.
