“We are saddened and alarmed with this news about our colleagues, especially knowing that PhilHealth does not cover the whole expense of treatment for COVID-19, and that our ill teachers will likely get salary deductions after consuming the 14-day COVID-related excused absences,” ani Raymond Basilio, Secretary General ng ACT.

“Imagine the grave danger this poses to the health and safety of our education workers, and the colossal problem that may ensue. DepEd is ordering for the regrouping of employees who will come from different areas with varied risk levels—without so much as clear guidelines on whether teachers will be screened to determine who among them are fit to report physically or who needs to be quarantined, as well as testing of any kind.”
