Aalis sa private elem at HS posibleng mas marami kaysa inaasahan

POSIBLENG mas marami umano kaysa sa inaasahan ang mga estudyante na umalis sa pribadong elementary at high school.

Ayon sa Alliance of Concerned Teachers batay sa mga datos ay posible na hindi lamang 2 milyong estudyante na nag-aral sa private school ang lumipat sa public school sa darating na school year.

Sa datos na nakuha ng ACT, 314,029 pa lamang ang nagpa-enroll sa pribadong paaralan. Malayo ito sa 4.2 milyon enrollees noong nakaraang taon. Malayo pa ang pasukan kaya maaari pang madagdagan ang bilang ng mga nagpa-enroll.

At ang pagkonti umano ng mga estudyante sa pribadong paaralan ay maaaring magresulta sa pagsasara ng eskuwelahan.

“If enrolment will continue at this rate, we may have less than a million learners in private schools for this school year, which may mean thousands of school closure, especially small ones that are unable to continue operation due to the lack of sufficient funds from tuition and other miscellaneous fees. This in turn will lead to massive lay-offs of education workers,” ani ACT Secretary General Raymond Basilio.

Bago umano ang lockdown ay marami ng eskuwelahan ang nagbawas ng empleyado.

“DepEd has recently called for volunteer teachers; we posit that retrenched private school teachers be given priority in the government’s provision of gainful employment. We do, however, demand that the state do not make the same mistake it did with volunteer health workers when it offered an insultingly low pay of P500 per day allowance. Education and health workers alike deserve decent pay for their unparalleled and essential service,” saad ni Basilio.

Nanawagan din ang ACT na tulungan ang mga maliliit na eskuwelahan upang hindi mapilitang magsara ang mga ito.
