Ancajas: Stay safe, we can overcome this global crisis
DAVAO CITY – Reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas of Davao del Norte sent an encouraging message to boxing fans amid the COVIC-19 pandemic.
“To all boxing fans, stay safe and we can overcome this global crisis and boxing will be back soon,” he said.
The 28-year-old Ancajas was one of the guest speakers in the 1st IBF Video Awards Ceremony held worldwide through the YouTube channel.
Ancajas is currently training at the Cavite Survival Camp in Magallanes, Cavite.
He and his manager-trainer Joven Jimenez were supposed to go to the United States for a possible fight. But they were stopped due to the Covin-19 pandemic.
“Saka nila i-confirm ang laban kung makakarating kami sa US,” said Jimenez.
“Pero, nakahanda kami sa training.”
Ancajas also runs for inutes a day he is already 88 percent in condition, Jimenez added.
Ancajas already has 36 rounds of sparring sessions against three upcoming fighters: undefeated super lightweight Daniel Lim, flyweight John Mark Alimane and unbeaten light flyweight Angelo Beltran.
In his last and eighth title fight, Ancajas stopped Miguel Gonzales of Chile in the sixth round in Mexico last Dec. 7.
