SBP tuloy pa rin ang paghahanda sa 2023 FIBA World Cup

TULOY lang sa kanilang paghahanda ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) para sa hosting ng Pilipinas sa 2023 FIBA World Cup kahit umiiral pa ang coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Subalit sinisiguro naman ng SBP na sinusunod nito ang mga government guidelines at ginamit na rin nito ang “Better Safe than Sorry” approach sa mga miyembro at opisyales nito na nagtatrabaho sa kanilang tahanan habang may pandemic.

“Video conference are held between SBP and FIBA/FIBA Asia/ stakeholders such as Playing Venues/Hotels/Event Suppliers on various programs and projects, including but not limited to preparations for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup,” sabi ng SBP sa pahayag na inilabas nito kamakailan.

Ang Pilipinas ay magsisilbing co-host ng 2023 FIBA World Cup kasama ng Japan at Indonesia.

Ang SBP ay tumatakbo sa ilalim ng FIBA, na naglabas ng pahayag noong Mayo 8 na nagpapaalala sa mga national federation members na sundin ang mga direktiba ng WHO (World Health Organization) at mga tagubilin na inilalabas ng pamahalaan.

Maliban sa paghahanda nito sa FIBA World Cup, nagsasagawa rin ang SBP ng video conferences para sa FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers pati na ang planong pagsasagawa ng e-sport basketball tournaments sa ilalim ng basketball governing body.

Nakapagsagawa na rin ang SBP ng consultation meetings sa mga  regional directors nito patungkol sa grassroots programs.

Ang lahat ng mga aktibidades, events, games, clinics at workshops na isinagawa ng SBP ay pinatigil din nito para makaiwas sa mga mass gatherings.
