PINALAGAN ni Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez ang isang text na nagsasabing tanggapin niya ang ilang kababayan na babalik sa kanilang lugar.

“DILG, NHA, OWWA, what happened to all the protocols that you guys are trying to formulate for returning residents?!!!

“I just would like to share what is happening right now about this Balik Probinsya program.

“This morning the DILG regional office and OWWA texted, ‘texted’, us informing us that there are 3 planes arriving in Tacloban and telling us to receive them without following Covid protocols, undocumented and untested.

“We have kept our city Covid-free for more than 70 days bec of strict border controls and implementation of health protocols. 

“Then here comes a TEXT from the National government agencies telling us that there are repatriates coming in our city and telling us to accept them?!

“What happened to all the protocols that we’ve been working on? What happened their protocols that they have been telling us to do if they themselves are not doing the right thing?!

“It only takes one infected person to get to our city to infect a hundred innocent people bec of carelessness from the national government agencies.

“Where is the National Task Force Covid Shield and the IATF in all of these?!!!”

“Kailangan namin ng coordination. Dapat ‘yung mga national agencies, kaya magkakagulo talaga ‘yung tao… kailangan talaga proper coordination. Huwag niyo ho kami pahulain.

“Hindi ho kami puwedeng mag-magic, bigyan niyo kami ng tamang intervention,” sabi pa ng mayor sa isang interview.

Mix naman ang reaction ng netizens tungkol sa kanyang controversial post. May mga bumatikos sa stand niya about the health protocol na ipinatutupad ng national government.

“Implement the local laws to save your constituents. Never mind the words from those agencies. You as the Mayor has the sole responsibility to protect your people at all cost. Quarantine the new arrivals in 14 days.”

“Mayor is it mandatory for you to accept since its coming from the Natl Govt without the proper protocol in place and followed. We salute and commend you for being a Proactive Mayor than a Reactive Mayor. 

“This the reason why Ormoc is still a free Covid city. You act in advance before things happen and not react when only problems are at hand. We thank you for this.”

“This is so frustrating… all of us here tried our best to follow what our government wanted us to do. And here they are sending a ‘text’ informing our Mayor not to follow protocols?!!!! Really? Really? What is happening!”
