Protection center ng QC binuksan muli para sa mga biktima ng pang-aabuso

BINUKSAN na ng Quezon City government ang protection center para sa mga biktima ng gender-based violence and abuse.

Ayon kay Mayor Joy Belmonte muling tatanggap ng mga biktima ang QC Protection Center simula ngayong linggo.

“Sa pagdami ng kaso ng karahasan at pang-aabuso laban sa ating mga kababaihan, kabataan at miyembro ng LGBT community, nakita namin ang pangangailangan na muling buksan ang QCPC para matugunan ang problemang ito,” ani Belmonte.

Ang center, na matatagpuan sa Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) compound sa Brgy. Bahay Toro, ay pansamantalang nagsara dahil sa coronavirus disease 2019.

Nagpatuloy naman ang operasyon nito at tumatanggap ng tanong at reklamo sa pamamagitan ng e-mail ([email protected]), social media account at Hotline 122.

Ang pagbubukas ng tanggapan ng center ay ginawa matapos lumabas ang ulat na 602 katao ang biktima ng panggagahasa mula Marso 17 hanggang Mayo 23.

“We need to provide vulnerable sectors of society an avenue where they can seek assistance against any form of violence and harassment, most especially now that they are frequently at home due to the modified enhanced community quarantine,” ani Belmonte.

Itinayo no Belmonte ang QCPC noong 2012 para maging one-stop-shop sa mga biktima ng pananakit, harassment, at pang-aabuso.

Noong 2019, ang QCPC ay sinertipikahan ng Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) bilang isang Gender and Development (GAD) Local Learning Hub (LLH).
