SISIMULAN ngayon ng Rain or Shine ang pagdepensa sa kampeonato ng PBA Governors Cup  sa pagharap nito  sa San Mig Coffee ngayong gabi sa Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

Magsisimula ang nasabing sagupaan  ganap na alas-7:30 ng gabi pagkatapos ng laro sa pagitan ng Air21 at Globalport na mag-uumpisa dakong alas-5:15 ng hapon.

Si Japeth Aguilar, na nakasama sa Gilas Pilipinas at tumapos sa ikalawang puwesto sa Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship, ay wala na sa koponan pero palaban pa rin ito dahil nakuha nila ang 6-foot-10 na si Jay Washington at Yousef Taha.

Hinugot din nila bilang import si 6-foot-4 Markeith Cummings na naglaro sa Kennesaw State Owls at naghatid ng 16.5 puntos, 4.4 rebounds at 1.4 assists.

Ipaparada naman ng Air21 ang balik-import na si Zach Graham na may average na 37.56 puntos, 12.56 rebounds 2.78 assists at 1.11 steals sa siyam na laro noong nakaraang taon.

Kinuha naman ng Elasto Painters ang serbisyo ng dating PBA Best Import awardee Arizona Reid para subukang mapanatili ang titulong pinagwagian  nito noong isang taon kontra San Mig Coffee sa pitong matitinding labanan sa Finals.

Tiwala si Rain of Shine coach at ngayon ay Kinatawan ng 1st District ng Pampanga na si Joseller “Yeng” Guiao sa tsansang mapanatili ang titulo dahil na rin sa magandang ipinakita sa national team nina Jeff Chan at Gabe Norwood.

“Our chances are really good. We will try to give our Gilas players some rest but winning is still our top priority,” ani ni Guiao.
Hindi naman magpapadehado ang tropa ni coach Tim Cone na ibinalik si Marqus Blakely na gumawa ng 22.4 puntos, 13.4 rebounds,  2.7 steal at 2.5 blocks sa 22 laro noong isang season.
