Howie Severino nag-donate na rin ng plasma para sa COVID patients: Money can’t buy it

Ervin Santiago - May 14, 2020 - 03:37 PM

Narito ang mensaheng ipinost niya sa Facebook, “Nearly two months after my first covid symptoms, five weeks after leaving the hospital, and a week after being declared fully recovered, I was able to donate plasma today so my antibodies could be transferred to another patient fighting for their life.”

Ipinost ni Howie ang ilang litrato niya habang kinukunan ng plasma,  “That machine separated the plasma from my blood and returned the red blood cells to my body.

“Surprisingly, the liquid gold as the doctors call it is that color. The med techs were handling it like a newborn baby, and they also let me hold it like I was a mother who just gave birth,” aniya pa.

Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “That bag holds 486ml of one of the most precious substances in the world today. Money can’t buy it; I was assured it would be given for free to the patient most in need.

“A committee of doctors decides based on need. An ongoing debate is, do you only give it to the gravely ill or do you also give it to the moderately ill so they don’t become worse?

“That choice becomes less wrenching if more survivors donate plasma, and more patients receive it, which is one reason for doing this story- assuring potential donors that this process is not dangerous or scary, and perhaps one of the easiest ways to save a life,” lahad pa ng Kapuso broadcaster.
