Interes ng credit card pinababawasan

NANAWAGAN si House Deputy Speaker Johnny Pimentel sa mga credit card company na bawasan ang kanilang interest rates para mapalakas ang spending capability ng mga ito.

Ayon kay Pimentel may 10 milyong credit card holder sa bansa na may kabuuang P1.2 trilyong purchase noong 2019.

“This is not just about pain-sharing. We are actually counting on reduced interest rates to encourage cardholders to increase their spending, which is crucial now to create the extra demand for goods and services needed to revive domestic industries and prevent more job losses,” ani Pimentel.

Sinabi ni Pimentel na kulang ang pansamantalang deferment ng pagbabayad at ang dapat at ibaba ang interes na ipinapataw sa pinamili ng mga ito.

“Frankly, we find it somewhat excessive that card issuers up to now continue to charge borrowers monthly financing rates ranging from 3.0 to 3.5 percent (per month),” ani Pimentel. “Lenders should lower their interest rates, especially since regulators have driven down policy rates by almost one-third.”

Hinimok din ni Pimentel ang Financial Consumer Protection Department ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas na maglabas ng ‘before-and-after’ report kaugnay ng interest rates na ipinapataw ng mga bangko para sa kanilang credit card at loans.
