“We should make sure that MSMEs are given whatever support they need not only to keep their businesses afloat, but more importantly, to prevent people from losing their jobs as we face an unprecedented public health crisis,” ani Herrera.

“In 2018, these MSMEs collectively generated a total of 5,714,262 jobs or 63.19 percent of the country’s total employment,” ani Herrera. “This is why it is crucial for the government to extend more assistance to this sector.”

Ipinanukala ni Herrera ang P1 bilyong pautang sa ilalim ng Small Business Corp., ang financing arm ng Department of Trade and Industry para sa MSMEs.

“Unfortunate that the COVID-19 pandemic leaves many small business owners and workers uncertain about their future.”

“These measures would provide economic relief to small business owners and give them enough funds to pay for the salary of their employees who would otherwise have been laid off as a result of the crisis,” dagdag pa ng lady solon.
