“This kind of exploitation in the midst of crisis must stop. We urge the government to immediately investigate funeral parlors and hospitals on the price of cremation today,” ani Colmenares.
“This is not just about the delivery of public service but also a social health issue. Government cannot allow fatalities to rot in morgues just because their kin cannot afford cremation as this also constitute a threat to public health. This is no different from the government promise for Philhealth to take care of all expenses of COVID patients, since not providing them medical services due to inability to pay medical expenses will only worsen the crisis. It is imperative for Philhealth therefore to pay for the medical expenses of all COVID patients,” dagdag pa ni Colmenares.
“All it needs is government efficiency in allocating and releasing these funds, as well as the political will to let go of lump sum pork barrel projects and spend these on the needs of the people,” ani Zarate.
