DAHIL wala pang katiyakan kung kailan nito maitutuloy ang mga laro bunga ng coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, naghahanap na ng mga opsyon ang Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) kung paano nito maipagpapatuloy ang ika-45 season ng liga.
“We don’t know how long this is going to drag on,” sabi ni PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial sa PBA website.
“Chairman Ricky Vargas has called a video conference. The board will assess the situation and will make a thorough study on the steps we have to undertake,” sabi pa ni Marcial.
At batid ni Marcial na matatagalan bago bumalik sa normal ang sitwasyon sa bansa.
“From what I’m seeing, the earliest the PBA could return is in June because if the country is able to flatten the curve in April or May, I have to give our teams a month of practices before we resume play,” dagdag pa ni Marcial.
Pinatigil ng liga ang lahat ng mga team practices at iba pang basketball activities nito bago pa man ipatupad sa buong Luzon ang enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) nitong nakaraang buwan at pinalawig pa nito ang suspension base na rin sa isinasagawang lockdown measures.
Nagpahiwatag na kamakailan ang Malacañang na palalawigin ang ECQ at pormal na inanunsyo ngayong Martes ng Inter-Agencey Task Force (IATF) na ang lockdown ay magtatagal pa hanggang Abril 30.
