Defensor: Mask dapat ba talagang imported?
UMAPELA sa administrasyong-Duterte si AnaKalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor na imbes na mag-angkat ng mask, na in-demand dahil sa coronavirus disease-2019, ay mag-manufacture na lamang sa bansa.
“It might be practical for the government itself to be ready all the time to steadily produce large quantities of face masks, not just to help us fight off COVID-19, but also other highly infectious respiratory diseases that might emerge in the future,” ani Defensor.
Sinabi niya na nagbawas din ang mga bansa na pinanggagalingan ng mask ng ipinadadala sa ibang lugar upang matiyak na mayroon itong sapat na suplay. Ang China ay umorder ng 1.2 bilyong piraso ng face mask.
“We simply cannot rely forever on imported supplies during potential global health emergencies,” dagdag pa ni Defensor. “The government should consider importing the mask-making machines and find ways to assure a stable supply of raw materials to guarantee sustained production, if necessary.”
Ang mga malalaking manufacturer sa India ay nakagagawa ng mask sa halagang P1 bawat isa.
