P350M gagastusin sa pagpapagawa ng common toilet

AABOT sa P350 milyon ang pondo na gagastusin ng gobyerno sa pagpapagawa ng mga “sanitary toilet facilities” upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng polio virus sa bansa.

Ayon kay AnaKalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor nakapaloob ang budget sa Department of Health pero ipauubaya ito sa Department of Public Works and Highways na siyang magtatayo ng mga palikuran.

“The DPWH will construct the toilets based on a list of locations identified and specifications prescribed by the DOH,” ani Defensor, chairman ng House committee on public accounts.

Kung gagastos umano ng P20,000 bawat banyo, ang P350 milyon ay makapagpapatayo ng 17,500 bagong banyo.

Sinabi ni Defensor na dapat maging transparent ang proyekto at maaaring ilathala ang catalogue sa website ng DoH at DSWD upang mas marami ang makasali at magbantay sa gawaing ito.

“Depending on how the two departments will properly build and maintain the facilities, Congress may or may not authorize additional funding in the future,” dagdag pa ng solon.

Sa Metro Manila, tinatayang 3.5 milyong pamilya o 25 porsyento ng populasyon ang walang maayos na palikuran.

Ang polio virus ay posibleng kumalat sa pamamagitan ng dumi ng tao. Bukod sa paggamit ng maayos na palikuran ay maaari rin itong makontrol sa pamamagitan ng bakuna.
