Figueroa, UAAP Season 82 high school basketball MVP

MATAPOS ang impresibong paglalaro sa elimination round, si Jake Figueroa ng Adamson University ang tinanghal na Most Valuable Player ng UAAP Season 82 High School Boys’ Basketball Tournament.

Ang Grade 11 Baby Falcon na si Figueroa ay nakalikom ng kabuuang 73 statistical points na mataas ng 6.21 puntos kay runner-up Josh Lazaro ng Ateneo de Manila University.

Ang 6-foot-2 forward mula Pampanga ay nagtala ng mga season averages na 13.21 puntos, 14.14 rebounds, 3.14 assists, 1.64 steals at 1.21 blocks kada laro game. Pinangunahan ni Figueroa ang Baby Falcons sa stepladder semifinals bilang fourth seed sa tangan na 8-6 record.

Si Figueroa ang unang Boys’ Basketball MVP mula sa Adamson magmula nang makuha ni Mark Juruena ang nasabing parangal noong Season 71.

Ang iba namang nasa top five ay pawang mga forward din.

Pumangalawa’t pumangatlo sina Lazaro at Lebron Lopez ng Ateneo sa natipong 66.79 at 66.21 statistical points, ayon sa pagkakasunod. Ang dalawa ang naghatid sa Blue Eaglets sa third seed sa kanilang 8-6  kartada.

Ang kumpleto sa top five ay sina Karl Quiambao (66.14) ng National University-Nazareth School at Aldous Torculas (65.57) ng University of the Philippines Integrated School.

Kabilang naman sa top 10 sina Bismarck Lina (65.5) ng University of Santo Tomas, Ray Torres (63.29) ng UPIS, Cyrus Austria (60.46) ng University of the East, Penny Estacio (60.36) ng Far Eastern University-Diliman at Forthsky Padrigao (59.64) ng Ateneo.

Ang awarding ceremony ay gaganapin sa Game Two ng Finals.
