10K aksidente sa kalsada dahil sa pag-inom sa alak
MAHIGIT sa 10,000 aksidente sa kalsada kada taon ang iniuugnay sa pag-inom ng alak, bukod pa sa 40 sakit ang iniuugnay sa alcoholism.
Kaya ikinatuwa ni House committee on ways and means chairman Joey Salceda ang pagpirma ni Pangulong Duterte sa sin tax reform bill.
“Alcohol alone accounts for as many as 10,372 road crashes every year. Based on anecdotal evidence from the PGH (Philippine General Hospital), the number is probably bigger, as they claim that about 50 percent of all vehicular accident cases that they treat have some alcohol involved,” ani Salceda.

“Alcoholism is linked with about 40 main diseases, including liver cirrhosis, cancer, pancreatic disease, hypertensive disease, tuberculosis, diabetes, and mental diseases.”
Ayon sa datos ng World Health Organization noong 2016, 4,431 sa bawat 100,000 Filipino ang namamatay sa liver cirrhosis; 16,418 sa hypertensive diseases at 8,526 sa tuberculosis.
“Surely, any move that reduces average national consumption is good news,” dagdag pa ng solon.
Inaasahang madaragdagan ng P17 bilyon ang kita ng gobyerno sa dagdag buwis na ito. Ang malilikom na pondo ay gagamitin sa universal health care.
