Pole vault record ni Uy naghatid ng gold sa Pinas

ITINAAS ni PH pole vaulter Natalie Rose Uy ang kanyang mga kamay matapos magtala ng record-breaking pole vault mark sa nasabing event sa 30th SEA Games Linggo ng gabi sa New Clark City. INQUIRER

NAKUHA ni Fil-American Natalie Uy ang gold medal para sa Pilipinas sa pagtala ng bagong Southeast Asian Games record sa pole vault Linggo ng gabi sa New Clark City track and field stadium sa Capas, Tarlac.

Sa harap ng hometown crowd na nadismaya sa kabiguan ni Kristina Knott na magwagi sa 100m dash, nagtala ang 25-anyos na ipinanganak sa Kettering, Ohio, USA na si Uy ng 4.25 metro para talunin si Thai defending champion Sukanya Chomchuendee.

Ang pagwawagi ni Uy ay naghatid naman sa Pilipinas ng pole vault events sweep matapos na magtala rin si Ernest John Obiena ng panibagong SEA Games record para mauwi ang men’s gold Sabado. Ang Tokyo Olympics-bound na si Obiena ay nagtala ng bagong SEAG record na 5.45 metro.

Sinubukan pa ni Uy na malagpasan ang kanyang personal best na 4.30 metro sa paghabol sa 4.35 marka subalit tatlong beses siyang nabigo.

Ang 2019 Asian Championships bronze winner na si Uy ay binura rin ang 2013 SEAG mark na 4.21 metro na itinala ni Chomchuendee.
