SEA Games: 3 ginto sinagwan ng PH rowing team

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – SUMAGWAN ng tatlong gintong medalya ang Philippine rowing team sa 2019 Southeast Asian Games Sabado sa Triboa Park dito.

Ibinulsa nina Melka Jean Caballero, 23 at Joanie Delgaco, 21, na parehong mula Camarines Sur ang ginto sa lightweight double sculls sa oras na 7:24.21.  Pumangalawa ang Vietnam (7:27.65) habang pumangatlo ang Myanmar (7:30.23)

Sa men’s rowing lightweight singles sculls, wagi ang 19-anyos na si Cris Nievares mula Atiomonan, Quezon nang manguna sa tiyempong 7:34.27 para biguin si Siripong Chaiwichitchonkul ng Thailand (7:35.1) at Kakan Kusmana ng Indonesia (7:39.54).

“Gustong-gusto po naming magka-gold hindi lang para sa amin, sa team kundi para sa bayan natin,” sabi ng SEA Gamed second-timer na si Caballero.

Gagamitin ni Caballero ang makukuhang insentibo para sa pamilya habang ipambibili ng lupa ni Delgaco ang premyo.

Sunod nilang paghahandaan ang qualifying tournaments para sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
