ISINULONG sa Kamara de Representantes ang panukala upang proteksyunan ang mga “ander de saya” o mga mister na nakararanas ng pagmamalupit mula sa kanilang mga misis.
Naniniwala si Rizal Rep. Fidel Nograles na dapat bigyan din ng proteksyon ang mga mister na nakararanas ng pang-aabuso mula sa kanilang mga misis kaya nais niyang amyendahan ang Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (RA 9262).
Sa ilalim ng House bill 4888, ang RA 9262 ay gagawin ng Anti-Violence Against Partners and their Children para maisama na ang pagmamalupit sa mga lalaki.
“This bill shall prohibit all forms of violence against partners and their children, in private and public life, and provides maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders,” ani Nograles.
Kasama rin sa panukala ang electronic violence upang maparusahan din ang mga gumagamit ng pekeng social media account upang mang-intriga o manakit ng damdamin ng iba.
“We must recognize that there are also male partners who are victims of abuse, yet are unable to report such incidents because of prejudice,” saad ng solon.
“The bill is really just a tweak to improve what has been an excellent mechanism to protect the Filipino family,” dagdag pa ng solon. “Violence and abuse do not discriminate. Babae man o lalake, at miyembro ng LGBT, may suffer from the deleterious effects of an abusive relationship. It’s government’s duty to protect everyone.”
