Kongresista nagpabawas ng suweldo para donasyon sa Batanes

BABAWASAN ang suweldo ng mga kongresista at ang malilikom na pondo ay ibibigay sa mga nasalanta ng lindol sa Batanes.

Ayon kay House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez nagkasundo ang mga kongresista na pumirma sa donation sheet kung saan P5,000 ang pinakamaliit na ibibigay ng mga pipirma.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na may mga kongresista na nangako ng P50,000 at P100,000.

 “I just spoke with the Speaker (Alan Peter Cayetano) about the Batanes fund drive. It has been the practice whenever a district is hard-hit by a calamity, in this case Batanes. This voluntary effort on the part of the congressmen to contribute has been done in the past through salary deduction,” ani Romualdez.

Mayroong 300 kongresista sa kasalukuyan.

Inanunsyo ni House Deputy Majority Leader at Pangasinan Rep. Christopher de Venecia ang umiikot na “signature sheet” sa sesyon.

Inaprubahan din ng Kamara de Representantes ang House Resolution 139 na nagpapahayag ng “profound sympathies” sa mga biktima ng lindol at “deepest condolences” sa mga namatayan sa lindol.

Ang resolusyon ay akda nina Cayetano, Romualdez at House Minority Leader at Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante, Jr.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na maglalagay din ang donation boxes sa lobby ng North Wing at South Wing para sa iba pang nais na magbigay ng donasyon.

Ang mga donasyon ay ipadadala sa tanggapan ni Batanes Rep. Ciriaco Gato.
