Late advisory ng mga telcom kaugnay ng rainfall warning kinondena

NAGPAHAYAG ng pagkadismaya ang Bayan Muna sa masyadong late na pagdating ng mga rainfall warning advisory ng National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

Ayon kay Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares nagkatanggap siya ng text mula sa NDRRM na naka-red rainfall warning ang National Capital Region at lalawigan ng Rizal mula alas-2 ng hapon. Pero natanggap niya ang text message alas-5 ng hapon.

Mula siyang nakatanggap ng text alas-10 ng gabi upang magbigay ng babala sa red rainfall warning ng alas-8 ng gabi.

“Bilasa na yung alert kapag dumadating e. Sa halip na makatulong ay nakakainis yung nangyayari,” ani Colmenares na may-akda ng Free Disaster Mobile Alerts Law noong siya ay kongresista pa.

Naghain ang Bayan Muna ng resolusyon upang makapag-imbestiga ang Kamara de Representantes at mapaganda ang serbisyong ito.

“The purpose of the law is to help to preserve lives and property but with the lateness of the alerts the objective is being defeated.”

Sinabi ni Colmenares na nakapaloob din sa batas ang pagpapadala ng text alert kung nasaan ang mag evacuation center at relief distribution areas.

“But text messages do not contain important information as intended by the law,” dagdag pa ni Colmenares. “They should fast track the improvement of their service or face another law suit on top of the case for the text refund on their overcharging consumers for interconnection charges.”
