Tourism chief itinalaga si Bengzon bilang DOT spokesperson

ITINALAGA ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat si Tourism Undersecretary for Tourism and Development Planning Benito Bengzon, Jr. bilang spokesperson ng DOT.

Pinalitan ni Bengzon si dating Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre, na nagbitiw noong isang linggo matapos ang kautusan ni Puyat sa lahat ng mga dating opisyal ng kanyang pinalitan na si Wanda Tulfo-Teo, na magsumite ng courtesy resignation kay Pangulong Duterte.

Bilang career official sa DOT sa loob ng mahigit 30 taon, hindi sakop si Bengzon ng kautusan.
Naging assistant secretary si Bengzon at spokesperson ng DOT noong panahon ni dating Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr.

Kabilang sa mga pinagbitiw sa puwesto ay ang mga undersecretary Katherine de Castro, Alma Rita Jimenez, Marco Bautista, at Pompee La Viña; at assistant secretary na sina Maria Lourdes Japson, Daniel Mercado, Eden Josephine David, and Arlene Mancao.

Noong isang linggo, ibinunyag ni Puyat na inimbitahan niya si Trade Assistant Secretary Arturo Boncato Jr., bilang undersecretary ng DOT.

Nagsilbi si Boncato bilang regional director ng DOT sa Davao noong panahon ni dating pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, at nahirang bilang assistant secretary sa ilalim ni Jimenez.
