SINABI ng Palasyo na hindi dapat mag-panic ang publiko matapos ang ulat na ubos na ang suplay ng bigas ng National Food Authority (NFA).
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra na inaasahan na ng gobyerno ang pagkaubos ng NFA rice.
“We all know na mababa na talaga ang stocks ng NFA, but the overall rice supply is more than sufficient with plenty to spare. No need to panic,” giit ni Guevarra.
Kasabay nito, ibinasura ng Palasyo ang apela ng NFA na agahan ang importasyon ng bigas.
“Wala naman pong shortage kaya same skedule lang po ng importation,” sabi ni Guevarra.
Nauna nang inaprubahan ni Pangulong Duterte ang importasyon ng 250,000 metriko tonelada ng bigas para matiyak ang sapat na suplay ng bigas sa bansa.
