Gov. Vi, Ate Guy butata na naman kay Angel, Bea umuwing luhaan
Nasilat ni Angel Locsin ang acting sweep sana ng “The Mistress”.
Like the past Film Academy Award nights throughout the year, tahimik na isinagawa ang 31st Luna Awards last Saturday sa Quezon City Sports Club. Kulang man sa artista, present ang halos lahat ng guild presidents and this is important dahil industry award naman ito. Comment lang ng isang kasamahan namin sa panulat, sana raw nakaengganyo si Phillip Salvador na magtawag ng artista for the night being the president of the Kapisanan ng Mga Actor sa Pelikulang Filipino or that of Star Cinema lalo na’t they won all the acting awards.
Anyways, two movies mostly shared the 12 awards with one surprise winner from a third entry. Ang “El Presidente” ng Scenema Concept ang nanalong Best Picture; Carlo Mendoza for Cinematography; Danny Red and Joel MV Bilbao for Production Design; Jesse Lasaten for Musical Score and Albert Michael Idioma for Sound. Ang “The Mistress” naman ng Star Cinema won Best Director for Olivia Lamasan, Screenplay for Vanessa Valdez, Editing for Marya Ignacio and three of the four acting awards, Actor for John Lloyd Cruz, Supporting Actress for Hilda Koronel and Supporting Actor for Ronaldo Valdez.
With such a trending, everyone thought it will be Bea Alonzo who will win Best Actress pero si Angel and her Star Cinema movie “One More Try” ang nanalo sa award. Angel beat the two superstars Nora Aunor for “Thy Womb” and Gov. Vilma Santos for “The Healing” plus two other stars for other Star Cinema movies, Pokwang sa “A Mother’s Story” and Angelica Panganiban for “Every Breath U Take”. Eddie Garcia is there by the way, nominated for Best Actor for “Bwakaw” but lost. He was also the recipient kasi of the Fernando Poe. Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award.
