Ipinanukala ni dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo ang pagtatayo ng ospital para sa mga guro at kanilang mga dependent bilang pagkilala sa kanilang kontribusyon sa bansa.
Inihain ni Arroyo ang Philippine Teachers’ Hospital (House bill 2967) sa National Capital Region na bibigyan ng inisyal na P300 milyong pondo.
“We have always recognized the important role of our teachers. They are our unsung heroes because despite the difficulties that confront their profession, they have remained steadfast in molding the values and character of our youth,” ani Arroyo.
Para sa mga guro sa labas ng NCR, ang mga ospital ng gobyerno ay naatasan na maglagay ng mga ward para sa mga guro. Ang ward ay hindi dapat bumaba sa 50 pasyente ang maaaring gumamit.
“It is the hope of the author that such hospital can provide comprehensive health care services to all teachers and their dependents and complement the existing package of services under the National Health Insurance Program,” dagdag pa ng solon.
Bukod sa mga guro, saklaw ng panukala ang iba pang nagtatrabaho sa mga eskuwelahan gaya ng instructors, administrative support employee, doktor, dentista at nurse.
Ang mga dependent naman na maaaring pumunta sa Teachers’ Hospital ay ang mga anak ng guro na wala pang 21 taong gulang, walang asawa at nakadepende lamang sa kanila.
