Syjuco kinasuhan sa biniling cellphone

office-of-the-ombudsman Kasong paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act at Malversation ang isinampa ng Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan laban kay dating Iloilo Rep. Judy Syjuco kaugnay ng pagbili ng P5.9 milyong halaga ng cellphone.      Kasama ni Syjuco sa kaso ang mga opisyal at miyembro ng Bids and Awards Committee na sina Domingo Reyes Jr., Elmer Soneja, Ildefenso Patdu Jr., Rebecca Cacatian, Venancio Santidad, Geronimo Quintos, Marcelo Desiderio Jr., at Danilo de la Rosa at Domingo Samuel Jonathan Ng, may-ari ng West Island Beverages Distributor.      Ayon sa Ombudsman bumili ng 1,582 unit ng Nokia 1100 si Syjuco gamit ang kanyang Priority Development Assistance Fund. Ang mga cellphone ay para sa Municipal Telecenters ng Region VI.      Hindi umano dumaan sa public bidding ang pagbili at kinuha ang West Island bilang supplier.       Ayon sa Ombudsman binayaran ang West Island kahit hindi nito na-deliver ang mga cellphone units. Pineke rin umano ang mga dokumento na nagpapatunay na na-deliver ang mga ito.      “…. despite non-delivery of said communications equipment, thereby causing undue injury to the government in the aforesaid amount and giving unwarranted benefits, presence or advantage to West Island/Ng,” saad ng reklamo
