Charo Santos: Lumaki akong isang fan, mamamatay pa rin akong fan!

PANGARAP pala ng ina ni ex-ABS-CBN president Charo Santos ang maging singer siya. Dati kasing singer ang butihing ina ni Charo kaya hindi kataka-taka kung may boses din ang dating Miss Baron Travel Girl.

“She wanted me to be a singer. You know, she’s very frustrated about it. But singing is not just about recording. Singing is about performing and I was just a bit too shy for that,” pahayag ni Charo.

Never in her wildest imagination na mabibigyan siya ng chance na matupad ang pangarap ng kanyang ina when she recorded one of the songs sa bagong labas na commemorative album ng Maalaala Mo Kaya para sa ika-25 taon ng kanyang drama anthology titled “MMK Life Songs.” She’s just enjoying every moment na dumarating sa kanya.

“When you get to this point you just go with the flow and welcome the opportunities that come your way. Wala ng masyadong pinag-iisipan. You don’t make a big deal about it. Either you want to do it or you do not want to do it, ‘di ba?” sabi niya.

Very inspiring daw lahat ng awitin sa album gaya ng “Because You Loved me,” “I’ll Be There For You,” “She’s Always A Woman,” “Gaya ng Dati,” “Piece by Piece,” “Handog,” “Sana,” “Iingatan Ka” at “I’ll Be There.”

Agree kami when she said that the song that best described her ay ang “I Believe.” Promise niya sa next album ng MMK, isasama na niya ang “I Believe.” Hopefully, magkaroon din ng teleserye at pelikula about the song. Pero biro niya huwag na raw ipilit na siya pa ang kakanta ng song.

Haping-happy din si Charo sa kanyang pagbabalik sa pelikula lalo pa’t makikipag-compete pa sa Venice ang comeback movie niyang “Ang Babaeng Humayo” ni Lav Diaz.

“I feel I’m starting all over again. Parang I’ve come full circle and ah, what can I say? I feel so blessed. ‘Di ba, it could have been any other actress. I mean, this is about Lav. This is about the director. This is his film,” sabi pa niya.

“So, yeah, I’m excited. I’m looking forward to meeting the other artists, directors, writers, producers from the other parts of the world and learn from them. There’s so much to learn from artists,” bulalas niya.

Tiniyak naman ni Charo na makikipag-selfie siya sa mga international star na mami-meet niya sa Venice, “Alam mo naman ako dakilang fan. O, e, kung dito nga fan na fan ako ng mga talents natin, ‘di ba? Lumaki ako na fan. Mamamatay ako na fan. Mamamatay ako na humahanga at umiidiolo sa mga great talent,” ngiti niya.

Pero para mag-expect na manalo rin ng Best Actress gaya ni Jaclyn Jose sa isang international filmfest, e, hindi na niya iniisip. She will just go there for the experience. Anyway, ang “MMK Life Songs” ay pinrodyus ni Jonatahan Manalo at mabibili na sa frecord bars nationwide.
