Ex-Senate president Ernesto Maceda naka-life support pa, paglilinaw ng anak

(Updated) ITINAMA ng anak na lalaki ni dating Senate president Ernesto Maceda ang naunang pahayag ng kanyang chief of staff na patay na ang dating senador sa pagsasabing  “body is still being kept alive by the life support machine.”

Sa isang panayam, inamin ni  Edmond Maceda na maliit na ang tsansa na makarekober pa ang matandang Maceda.

“We’re just waiting for our eldest brother to arrive before the doctors check him one last time and turn off the machine,” sabi ni Maceda.

Sa isang panayam sa DZBB, sinabi ni Jimmy Policarpio, chief of staff ni Maceda na namatay si Maceda ganap na alas-11:30 ng umaga sa St. Luke’s Hospital dahil sa komplikasyon matapos sumailalim sa operasyon. Siya ay 81.
Nagsilbi si Policarpio ng 16 na taon kay Maceda.
Idinagdag ni Policarpio na nagkaroon ng mild stroke si Maceda dalawang araw na ang nakakaraan matapos makarekober mula sa operasyon sa gallbladder.
“Kanina nilagyan siya ng pacemaker. Hindi yata nakayanan kaya nangyari ang hindi inaasahan,” sabi ni Policarpio.
Si Maceda ay naging miyembro ng Senado mula 1970 hanggang 1998 at naging Philippine ambassador sa United States mula 1998 hanggang 2001.
