30 patay, 22 sugatan sa election-related incidents – CHR

TINATAYANG 72 kaso ng election-related violent incidents ang naitala, ayon sa Commission on Human Rights.

Ayon kay Gemma Parojinog,  officer in charge (OIC) ng CHR policy office, kabilang sa mga kasong naitala ay pagpatay, pamamaril, panunutok ng baril, demolisyon at  harassment.

Idinagdag ni Parojinog na naitala ito simula Marso 2015 hanggang Abril ngayong taon.

Ayon pa sa CHR, mula Mayo 3 hanggang Mayo 9, tinatayang 41 mga kaso ang naiulat.

“While the conduct of the election has been generally peaceful, we are concerned that there are areas where violence occurred,” sabi ni CHR Chair Chito Gascon.

Partikular na binanggit ni Gascon ang mga pagpatay sa Rosario, Cavite na kung saan pito ang minasaker.

“We’ve highlighted the killings and injuries but there were other subtle forms of intimidation, such as reverse vote-buying,” ayon pa kay Gascon.

Sinabi naman ng Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente) na sa Lipa, Batangas, ilang mga botante ang binigyan ng sako ng bigas at pera at nilagyan ng indelible ink ang mga daliri para hindi makaboto.

“We anticipate that other violations have not yet been reported and we will double up our efforts in post-election process to validate, verify and collect additional information for filing of charges should evidence
warrant,” dagdag ni Gascon.
