Hindi titigil si Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales sa pagsasampa ng kaso sa mga pulitiko kahit pa inaakusahan siya ng selective justice.
Ayon kay Morales panis na ang palusot ng mga pulitiko na sila ay kinakasuhan dahil kalaban sila ng administrasyon at hindi umano nila ito magagamit sa korte upang maabsuwelto.
“Stop giving the public the impression that you are being politically persecuted. It is the other way around. Every peso lost to corruption means less free medicines for indigent patients in government hospitals and health centers, less textbooks and classrooms in public schools, and less food packs for victims of natural disasters,” ani Morales.
Sinabi ni Morales na wala itong pinipili sa paghahain ng kaso at ibinabatay ito sa nakakalap nilang ebidensya at kung sapat na ito ay isasampa na ang kaso.
“We are oblivious of the timing of the filing of cases in courts, just as corrupt public officials steal public money every time an opportunity comes,” dagdag pa ng dating justice ng Supreme Court. “Fighting corruption is a 24/7 job. We file plunder or graft cases as soon as we are done with a thorough and impartial investigation. The Office will not be deterred by propaganda and threats in doing our job. As I have said in the past, fighting corruption is the reason for my life.”
Nagpasalamat naman si Morales sa magandang pagtingin ng publiko sa kanyang opisina.
Ayon sa survey ng Social Weather Station noong Marso 28, 2016, 51 porsyento ng mga respondent ang nagpahayag ng tiwala sa Ombudsman.
