Kampo ni Binay: DOJ dapat imbestigahan si Mercado sa pagkakaugnay sa Reyes brothers

HINILING ng kampo ni Vice President Jejomar Binay sa Department of Justice (DOJ) na imbestigahan si dating Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado sa harap ng pagkakasangkot ng kanyang pangalan sa pagtatago ng magkapatid na sina dating Palawan governor Joel Reyes at dating Coron mayor Mario Reyes na kapwa itinuturong nasa likod ng pagpatay sa environmentalist at broadcaster Gerry Ortega.

“The Department of Justice must immediately look into the possible involvement of Ernesto Mercado in allegedly hiding the suspects in the Gerry Ortega murder case,” sabi ng tagapagsalita ni Binay na si Rico Quicho.

Nakakulong ngayon ang magkapatid sa Puerto Princesa City Jail matapos namang ma-ideport mula Thailand.

Ayon sa ulat mula sa Philippine National Police, kabilang si Mercado sa mga tinawagan ng dalawa nang nagtago sila sa Thailand.

Idinagdag ni Quicho na dapat tanggalin si Mercado sa Witness Protection Program sakaling mapatunayang totoo ang alegasyon.

“If indeed true, as reported by a Philippine National Police source, Mr. Mercado should be dropped from the Witness Protection Program and face the consequences of his illicit act,” dagdag ni Quicho.

Tumestigo si Mercado sa Senado laban kay Binay kaugnay ng umano”y mga anomalyang kinasasangkutan niya at ng kanyang pamilya.
