RHIAN Ramos is not afraid to admit that she auditioned for the role of Sally in “Saving Sally”, one of the eight official entries in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2016.

It was through a soap co-star, TJ Trinidad, that he learned about the audition.

When asked what preparations did she do to the character of Sally, Rhian rattled of different acting style which apply for the movies and television.

“There is a different acting style for TV. There is a separate one for movies,” she mused.

“On TV, we are very big because we are imagining your audience watching you from a small screen. Your voice has to be loud because your audience could be chopping onions in the kitchen. You know, it’s very big, it’s huge.

“In movies, you can afford to be more simple because the screen is so big and you have the person’s attention. They just paid for your movies. It’s very dark and you’re the only one that they can see.

“For this (Saving Sally), it was very new kasi it’s a little closer to home because Marty and Sally are very much like kids that I grew up with in school,” she explained.

The challenge for Rhian, “Is how do I make it realistic after four years of TV? Now when I watch it, there are so many things that I will to do differently because I am on a different stage of my life.

“It is a simple story but that’s why it is a story that can’t be enough. We want it to be told again and again because we all know what it’s like to have a crush on someone but you can’t tell them. Ayaw mo masira ang friendship.

“Kasi parang, kakaibang mundo siya, eh. It is a world where there is so much imagination, where monsters exist and I need robots para hindi ako mag-isang naglalaba. I just wanted to be as different as the film was. That was the challenge. I don’t know if I succeeded but we’ll find out soon,” Rhian said.

Directed by Avid Liongoren, “Saving Sally” earned an A rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board. It also stars Enzo Marcos, TJ Trinidad, Bodjie Pascua, Sharmaine Centenera Buencamino and Archie Adamos.
