Fil-Am player top pick sa PSL Rookie Draft?

HINDI malayong isang Filipino-American player ang tanghalin bilang number one pick sa gagawing Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Annual Rookie Draft ngayon sa third level ng SM Aura sa Taguig City.

Dalawang Fil-Ams ang nagpatala sa draft na magsisimula sa ganap na alas-4 ng hapon at ito ay sina Iris Tolenada at Alexa Micek at sila ay makikipaggitgitan ng puwesto sa mga mahuhusay na local players sa anim na koponang magtatagisan.

Ang Philips Gold na dating Mane And Tail, ang unang pipili at hindi malayo na si Tolenada ang siyang gawing number one pick dahil siya ay isang Most Valuable Player sa California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Si Micek na ang kapatid na si Cole ay kasama ng Ateneo Blue Eagles sa basketball, ay isang 5-foot-8 libero pero tiyak na ililipat siya ng puwesto dahil sa tangkad nito.

Pamumunuan ni University of the Philippines spiker Angeli Araneta, Desiree Dadang at Rizza Mandapat ng National University, Denise Lazaro ng Ateneo at Therese Veronas ng College of St. Benilde ang hanay ng mga local talents na inaasahang mahuhugot din ng ibang kasaling teams.

“These girls will be the future stars of volleyball. They may be young, but they  are already overflowing with talent and potential. We couldn’t wait to roll out the red carpet for these fresh faces,” wika ni PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

Ang Foton ang may hawak ng second pick bago sumunod ang Cignal, Shopinas, Via Mare at Grand Prix champion Petron.

Si Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano ang siyang punong-abala sa kaganapang ito bukod sa suporta ni Rep. Lino Cayetano at SM Management.
