Jesus said to his disciples, “From the Father, I will send you the Spirit of truth. When this Helper has come from the Father, he will be my witness, and you, too, will be my witnesses for you have been with me from the beginning.“I tell you all this to keep you from stumbling and falling away. They will put you out of the Jewish communities. Still more, the hour is coming when anyone who kills you will claim to be serving God; they will do this because they have not known the Father or me. I tell you all these things now so that when the time comes you may remember that I told you. “I did not tell you about this in the beginning because I was with you.”

After getting the pope’s entire luggage loaded into the limo, the driver says, “Excuse me, Your Holiness, would you please take your seat so we can leave?” “Well, to tell you the truth,” says the Pope, “they never let me drive at the Vatican, and I’d really like to drive today.”
Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Supreme Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 105 km/ph. Then they hear sirens. The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio. “I need to talk to the Chief,” he says to the dispatcher. The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he’s stopped a limo going a hundred and five.
“So bust him,” said the Chief. “I don’t think we want to do that, he’s really important,” said the cop. The Chief then asked, “Who ya got there, the Mayor?” Cop: “Bigger.” Chief: “Governor?” Cop: “Bigger.” “Well,” said the Chief, “Who is it?” Cop: “I think it’s God!” Chief: “What makes you think it’s God?” Cop: “He’s got the Pope for a limo driver!” (From the internet).
The way society operates, a helper’s status is normally lower than his master’s. Thus in most cases the status of a helper suggests the social standing of the master. No wonder the police officer was overwhelmed at the possibility of who the passenger was when he saw that his driver was the Pope.
Our helper is no less than the Holy Spirit. Doesn’t this fact say anything about our status? With the Psalmist we exclaim: “What is man that you care for him, mortal man that you should keep him in mind? Yet you have made him little less than a God…” (Psalm 8). – Rev. Fr.
